With 3 Former Lady Indians starting (Collier and the Heltons), Chelsea Lee, and Terri Ann Hill, what did you expect? How wonderful it is to see local talent being a part of history. This is a first for UVA-Wise correct?

Certainly a contrast between the men's and women's teams up there. The women are packed with local talent, while the men's aren't.

If there were actually any mens basketball players in this area worth a $hit, then Im sure they would be recruited. I realize everyone on here is a bunch of homers, but being realistic, there is no way in helll that I would recruit anybody around here to play basketball there. Not only that, but lets look at the girls, how often is it that players like the heltons come along? Face it guys, there are very few college athletes in this area as it stands, you cant knock uvawise for recruiting away from here. If they didnt, they would be even worse.

Their biggest problem is they are a state funded school in a conference full of private schools that can afford to give as many schollies as they want.

    Re: UVA-WISE WINS AAC

I agree on the Scholarship part, but why did they not go out and sign McMurray, Wells, Spurlock, Jones, the Humphries, etc. Granted we dont have many prospects and some that we do wouldn't fit UVA-Wise, like Webb, Robbins, etc. However, there are some and it's as if they dont even try to recruit them.

Not sure about Wells, Spurlock, Jones, or the Humphries but I think that McMurray was just too good for uvawise. VThokie22 can tell ya, he was knocking on the door of getting some D1 offers.

    Re: UVA-WISE WINS AAC

UVA-Wise did talk with McMurray but McMurray wasn't interested. The coach at UVA-Wise knew this and that's why it didn't go any further. ETSU and another 1 or 2 D1 schools were involved but McMurray decided on Carson Newman. By the way, McMurray was 5-7 from 3 point range and tied for leading scorer with 15. CN lost by 10.
